Week 9

Kia Ora and welcome to Room 15 for 2014.
All information relating to our class including homework tasks, newsletters, reminders, successes and much more can be found on this website.
This week is Week Nine. This week we have our Science night on Tuesday, which starts at 7pm and finishes at 8pm. It would be really good to see you and your families at the Science night. I am really proud of all of the work you have been doing over the past week with your Science experiments.
Our chocolate fundraiser finishes on Monday. ALL chocolate AND money MUST be returned as soon as possible.
On Thursday afternoon we have our school Triathlon. I am really proud that there are so many of you participating in this opportunity.
Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.
PE & ACTIVATE
This year our PE days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Remember that from now on swimming will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ONLY and we will be doing Jump Jam and class PE sessions on Fridays. It is really important that you have your PE uniform on Fridays.
As Term One goes on we will be starting other PE lessons and you are required to wear your PE uniform for these sessions. We will also be going out for Activate on Mondays and Thursdays, which means that your PE uniform should be at school 5 days a week, every week!

HOMEWORK
Tasks are given out on Mondays and are expected to be completed and handed in on Fridays. You are expected to complete 30 minutes of homework EVERY night.

Week 8

Kia Ora and welcome to Room 15 for 2014.
All information relating to our class including homework tasks, newsletters, reminders, successes and much more can be found on this website.
This week is Week Eight. This week we have the second half of our school Literacy Quiz. We will be continuing with our Science experiments this week which is preparation for our Science evening next Tuesday.
Our chocolate fundraiser finishes this week. Congratulations to everyone who has brought back money. Remember if you haven’t sold any chocolates to return them as soon as possible so that others can sell them. If you have money at home it MUST come back the very next day. ALL chocolate must be returned by THIS Friday and money must be returned by NEXT Friday.
On Friday we have the Science Roadshow for those of you who have paid.
On Friday we also have a balloon from the Balloons over Waikato at school. There will be some food for sale and the balloon will inflate and, weather permitting, take off from our field and then the pilots will return later in the day to speak to the school.
Remember that your triathlon entry forms are due to Mr Metcalfe by this Friday.

Week 6

Kia Ora and welcome to Room 15 for 2014.
All information relating to our class including homework tasks, newsletters, reminders, successes and much more can be found on this website.
This week is Week Six. This week we have our Class and Individual photos taken on Monday.
Our chocolate fundraiser starts on Thursday – if you or your parents / caregivers do NOT want you to take part you MUST bring a note to me as soon as possible.
The students from Makuhari Junior High School arrive on Wednesday afternoon for their two week visit. There will be a powhiri on Thursday morning to formally welcome them to our school. We will have at least one Japanese student in our class and I know that you will all do your best to make them feel welcome and encourage them to speak English as this is the main reason they are in New Zealand.
Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.
I am still waiting for some of you to return your SMP forms – these were due back at the beginning of Week 3. Please return these as soon as possible. If you need another form please let me know.
There are still some of you who need to pay $7 for the Science Roadshow that is coming in Week 8. Monday is the last day for you to pay this money. This was on your Stationery list and is a compulsory part of our Science unit and is a fantastic opportunity for all of you to participate in some hands on Science experiments.

Week 5

This week is Week Five. This week we have Goal Setting Conferences happening on Tuesday and Thursday. A reminder that school finishes early on Tuesday and you will be allowed to go home at 1.25pm. School finishes at the usual time on Thursday.
Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.
I am still waiting for some of you to return your SMP forms – these were due back at the beginning of Week 3. Please return these as soon as possible. If you need another form please let me know.
Immunisation forms need to be returned as soon as possible. There are still some of you who need to pay $7 for the Science Roadshow that is coming in Week 8. This week is Week Four. This week we have our school Swimming Sports on Wednesday during blocks 1 & 2. You are allowed to bring a green top to show your support for our team. Good luck to everyone in our class who is participating J  We are also starting our Science Unit of Fair Testing.
Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.
Interim reports will be coming home on Friday afternoon. If you have not yet made an appointment for Goal Setting Conferences next week please fill in and return the form at the back of the last two newsletters or use the slip at the bottom of the page. Please be aware that the time that may suit you may already be taken. A letter confirming your time will be sent home with your child. These conferences require your child to be there to discuss their goals and learning so far.
We are in great need of families who would be willing to home host a Japanese student for a couple of weeks. If you think that your family would like to enjoy a new experience by having a male Japanese student stay with you please collect a notice, or ring the school office, from the school office. Year 7’s and new Year 8’s to our school are also encouraged to make the most of the opportunities that Maeroa has to offer. You are the only one standing in the way of experiencing success!!
I was really impressed to see at our team assembly on Friday that many of you are involved in some form of activity through the school – many of you are involved in more than one activity. This is showing great Kauri spirit, keep up the fantastic work!!!!!
If you haven’t gotten involved in anything yet but want to, please come and see me and I will help you.

2014 - Term One, Week 3


Kia Ora and welcome to Room 15 for 2014. I hope you are all as excited as I am about the start of a new year with new faces, new experiences and successes to look forward to.

All information relating to our class including homework tasks, newsletters, reminders, successes and much more can be found on this website.

This week is Week Three. This week we will focusing on learning in our groups now that most of our initial assessments have been completed. Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.

Year 8’s who are returning to Room 15 are expected to lead by example and support people who are new to our room. Remember to make the most of the opportunities offered to you this year!

Year 7’s and new Year 8’s to our school are also encouraged to make the most of the opportunities that Maeroa has to offer. You are the only one standing in the way of experiencing success!!

Please keep bringing in your SMP forms, team newsletter slips and Goal Setting Conference slips.

This Thursday from 5.30 – 7pm we will be having our Annual Kauri Team meet the teacher BBQ / Picnic Evening. If you are coming to this please return your Team Newsletter form as soon as possible so that we have an idea of how many sausages we will need to buy. A copy of this newsletter can be found on this blog.
