Week 4

Kia Ora and welcome to Room 15 for 2014.
All information relating to our class including homework tasks, newsletters, reminders, successes and much more can be found on this website.
This week is Week Four. This week we have our school Swimming Sports on Wednesday during blocks 1 & 2. You are allowed to bring a green top to show your support for our team. Good luck to everyone in our class who is participating J  We are also starting our Science Unit of Fair Testing.
Please make sure that you are Organised Learners and have all of the equipment that you need for all of your learning at all times – this includes having your togs for swimming.
Interim reports will be coming home on Friday afternoon. If you have not yet made an appointment for Goal Setting Conferences next week please fill in and return the form at the back of the last two newsletters or use the slip at the bottom of the page. Please be aware that the time that may suit you may already be taken. A letter confirming your time will be sent home with your child. These conferences require your child to be there to discuss their goals and learning so far.
We are in great need of families who would be willing to home host a Japanese student for a couple of weeks. If you think that your family would like to enjoy a new experience by having a male Japanese student stay with you please collect a notice, or ring the school office, from the school office. All of the information can be found in this notice.
Year 8’s who are returning to Room 15 are expected to lead by example and support people who are new to our room. Remember to make the most of the opportunities offered to you this year!
Year 7’s and new Year 8’s to our school are also encouraged to make the most of the opportunities that Maeroa has to offer. You are the only one standing in the way of experiencing success!!
I was really impressed to see at our team assembly on Friday that many of you are involved in some form of activity through the school – many of you are involved in more than one activity. This is showing great Kauri spirit, keep up the fantastic work!!!!!
If you haven’t gotten involved in anything yet but want to, please come and see me and I will help you.
Please keep bringing in your SMP forms and Goal Setting Conference slips.
Thank you to those people who came last Thursday to our Meet the Teacher BBQ, it was lovely to meet you all.
PE & ACTIVATE
This year our PE days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. For most of the first term this means swimming and you are required to have your togs with you on these days. If for any reason you are unable to swim you must have a note explaining why you are not swimming and for how long you will not be swimming for and this note MUST signed by your parents / caregivers.
As Term One goes on we will be starting other PE lessons and you are required to wear your PE uniform for these sessions. We will also be going out for Activate on Mondays and Thursdays, which means that your PE uniform should be at school 5 days a week, every week!

HOMEWORK
Tasks are given out on Mondays and are expected to be completed and handed in on Fridays. You are expected to complete 30 minutes of homework EVERY night.
Your tasks are due back by FRIDAY 28TH FEBRUARY.
