Week 6


This is Week Six. This week we your choices for Specialised Programmes will be coming out on Monday and you need to return your forms on Tuesday if you want to get into your first choice. Specialised Programmes will run in Block 3 all of next week. Remember that there won't be any Tech / Arts next week.

Congratulations to our Kauri Theatresports Team who have made it into the semi final stage.  We are so proud of you!

Well done to Sage, Greyson, Jackson and Joshua P for your efforts last week at Inter Intermediate Cross Country and Rugby League. You gave your best effort and did yourselves proud.

If you were unable to come to the Student Led Conferences at the end of last term but you’d like to make an appointment to meet with me please let me know as soon as possible what day suits you to come in.

I would like to see more homework books being handed in on Fridays please. Thank you to those people who were Organised Learners last week and handed their work in.

A reminder that you are meant to be spending 30 minutes each day completing your homework. Some of you are not meeting this expectation and if this continues there will be consequences. Be Organised Learners and earn yourselves positive consequences.

A reminder for our returning Year 8’s to lead by example and make the most of all of the opportunities that Maeroa has to offer and for Year 7’s to experience as much as they can while they are at Maeroa.

PE and Activate
Our days for PE are Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and we will be doing Activate on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our expectation is that you will need to bring your PE uniforms every day. There will be consequences for those of you who choose to not meet this expectation.

Congratulations to those Organised Learners who always have their PE uniforms each time we have PE, your efforts are outstanding!

Homework is given out every week on a Monday and it is expected that homework is returned completed on Fridays. You are expected to complete around 30 minutes of homework every night.

Week 5

This is Week Five. This week we still have Mana, our Japanese student from Notre Dame School, with us. It is really good to see you all making her feel welcome. Your choices for Specialised Programmes should be coming out this week.
Sage will be participating in the Inter Intermediate Cross Country on Tuesday and Greyson, Jackson and Joshua P will be playing in the final of the Sam Rapira Cup on Wednesday. Good luck to all of you!!!!

Week 4

This is Week Four. This week we will be continuing to present our speeches. Thank you to those brave people who volunteered to present their speeches first – I am really proud of you!
For the next couple of weeks we have students from Notre Dame High School in Japan at school. We have one student in our room and I know that you will make her feel welcome and include her in your activities.
This week we also have a netball game against Room 1 – go hard people and play fair!!!!
Thank you to everyone who helped in some way with the preparation and selling of our Nachos last week. We made $29.50 profit which we will be giving to Rainbow Place.  There are still classes who are selling their food this week. Remember to keep an eye out for other types of food being sold this week by other classes.
Congratulations to those people who represented Mexico in our school Olympics last week. A great effort J This week we still have a couple of activities to complete, as the weather last week meant we had to postpone Thursdays activities. It was great to see photos of our school Olympics in both the Waikato Times and the Hamilton News last week.

Week 3

This is Week Three. This week we are starting to present our speeches. We are also selling Nachos on Monday at sports break. Remember to keep an eye out for other types of food being sold this week by other classes.
This week we have our school Olympic Games. There are different activities being held during Sports breaks and we need to enter a competitor for each activity. Make sure you take part J

Week 2

This is Week Two. This week we are working on our Oratory unit. You are expected to work on your speeches for Homework and there will be school time to work on these.
We are also working on researching Mexico, our chosen country for the Olympics. This includes creating our version of Nachos.
Next week we have lots of Olympic focus activities, including the selling of national foods made by classes. We are selling our Nachos on Monday at sports break. On Thursday we have our School march past and Sarah Ulmer, an Olympic Cycling gold medallist, will be attending this event.
If you were unable to come to the Student Led Conferences at the end of last term but you’d like to make an appointment to meet with me please let me know as soon as possible what day suits you to come in.
I was really impressed with the amount of people who regularly completed and handed in their homework last term. I’m looking forward to this effort continuing this term.

Term 3 - Week 1

Week 8

We are now in Week Eight. This week we are still continuing with our Pie Drive. I hope you are all out there selling pies and lamingtons to friends, family and neighbours. Remember to use your manners when out selling. Make sure you are in your blue uniform and take someone with you so that you aren’t on your own. ALL MONEY AND ORDERS MUST BE IN TOMORROW (TUESDAY 6th JUNE)
Our trip is this Friday. Please be at school by 7.50am and meet in the gym. The bus will be leaving at 8am SHARP and we will NOT be waiting for anyone. If you are late then you will be staying at school.
Because we will be away on Friday, your homework will be due in on Thursday 14th June.
Student Led Conferences are being held in Week 10 on Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th June. Thank you to those people who have let me know what time they would like to come in.
If you haven’t brought your forms in please do this as soon as possible. There are slips in the last two school newsletters which can also be found on the school website. I have also included a slip at the bottom of this page if you’d like to print it out or send a note with the day and time slot you’d prefer.

Great work to Danielle, Florence, Brooke, Jasmine, Taylah, Owen and Aydian D for achieving their highest score this term in their Basic Facts test last week. 
Well done to Florence for receiving last week’s academic koru for her efforts throughout the week.
